So there’s no cure for hyperhidrosis guys.. bummer! But the good news is that there’s a treatment your doctor can make possible. Hurray! I finally went to see my family doctor @ the age 20 and tried getting help about this horrible problem I’ve had all my life. The only good that came out of that visit was that she referred me to a really good dermatologist who knew exactly what my problem was and had just the pill to give me! ROBINUL. Thats the common brand name, but the generic version I take is called Glycopyrrolate and i take 2 2mg tablets every morning to keep me from sweating all day! Ahh what an amazing feeling- I almost feel normal :P If you haven’t already tried it, go ask you doctor ASAP and thank me later. Seriously, this is what I call the miracle pill guys, because it has really changed my life. It’s annoying having to remember to take it every single day but its alot more annoying when your dripping palms prevent you from shaking hands with people or working or writing, and even ruining your expensive shoes after one time of wearing, and being embarrased by those huge wet armpit stains!
.. but it’s a work in progress! This year I got a job in Center City, where I spend about 5-6 days a week. Having my own ‘income’ and being away from home so much has given me a new sense of freedom. I think my family is finally starting to have a little trust and faith in me and are more willing to let me explore things on my own. I still have to lie about things (I know.. sad. But they’re just the little white lies, and without them I couldn’t survive living with my parents) But the point is that it’s getting better each day, and I can at least leave the house now. And I’m becoming more familiarized with the city life and whatnot… baby steps :)
This was never really one of my primary goals and I never really intended to work on it seriously, however I think I’m making progress nevertheless.. Hanging out with my new co-worker/friend Michelle who is exactly 10 years older than me, allows me to hear and use words I usually never even think of when I’m talking to my other friends. I think it’s kind of cool because I learn alot from her in general, but I especially love her choice of words. She’s actually quite funny too :D
